Carbon, Emery Compete at State Tennis

The 3A State Tennis Tournament took place this past weekend.

Lindsey Snow won her first match in first singles, 6-1, 6-3. She was then defeated in the second round 1-6, 1-6. Lizzy Blackburn also won her second singles match in the first round 6-3, 7-5. She could not get out of the second round and fell 2-6, 1-6.

The final Dino team to get a win in the first round was Ana Maria Olivas and Alyssa Ellis in second doubles. They won 6-7, 6-1, 6-4, but also could not pass the second round where they were defeated 1-6, 0-6.

Nicole Swasey lost 7-6, 4-6, 2-6 in the opening round of third singles. Alex Cartwright and Kaydance Scovill also lost a close on in the first round. They fell 4-6, 6-7 in first doubles.

For the Lady Spartans, Haley Guymon and Shaylee Grange won 6-1, 6-7 (10), 6-2 in the first round of first singles. The duo was then defeated 6-4, 6-4 in the second round. Megan Hess and Aspen Taylor failed to get out of the first round of second doubles when they lost 6-2, 6-4.

In the team rankings, Rowland Hall took first with Waterford in second and Grantsville in third. Carbon took eighth while Emery finished in 11th.
