The tempers and temperature were both hot at the finish of the golf tournament yesterday at the Roosevelt Golf Course. At the conclusion of the event one group of players, which included golfers from Carbon, Union and Providence Hall, had a lively discussion about proper golf edict and rules. This issue was quickly resolved by Carbon head coach Tom King and, at the end of the day, these players learned more about the gentlemen’s game called golf.

The Carbon Dinos heated things up with their play at the third event of the season with a convincing win over the hosting Union Cougars. The Dinos were led by the solid play of their seniors Ryker Smith and Ryan Gagon. Smith was the medalist of the tournament with a low score of 72. Gagon had another great showing with a score of 77. Carson Martines finished strong with a 78, his best score of the season. Brady Gagon and Zade Carrillo tied with scores of 81, and Tyler Yoklavich completed his round with an 87. Also making the trip were Kaden Slavensky with an 87 and Jordan Penovich with a 94.

With a team score of 308, Carbon increased its lead to a blistering 97 strokes in Region 14. Second place went to Union with 324 and Providence Hall took third with 337. In fourth place was Delta with 370, followed by American Leadership with 380, Juab with 385 and Maeser with 417.

The next tournament will be held on Aug. 30 at the Ranches Golf Club in Eagle Mountain held by the Providence Hall Patriots.
