The Carbon volleyball team knew they had a tough test on their hands as they traveled to Mt. Pleasant to take on North Sanpete, the number one team in their region, on Thursday. The last time these two teams met on the Dino’s home court, Carbon played arguably their best match of the season, sending North Sanpete home with their first and only region loss of the season. Carbon, on a two-match winning streak, hoped to repeat the last match-up with the Lady Hawks. The Dinos had no such luck at Thursday’s match as North Sanpete found their groove early and sent the Dinos home with a 3-0 loss, 25-18, 25-7 and 25-21.

North Sanpete claimed back-to-back Region 12 titles after sweeping Carbon on Thursday night. This loss places the Lady Dinos in a third seed ranking heading in to the state tournament. Carbon finished the season with a 4-4 region record and an 11-11 overall record.

Carbons offense was led by outside hitter Jordan Scoggins who contributed seven kills on the night, followed by teammate Beth Child who had five. Child led the defense with six digs. Lauren Rice set the pace for the Dino defense by contributing 13 assists on the night.

The Lady Dinos will prepare to play Park City as they head to the state tournament on Oct. 29-30. Carbon will seek revenge on the Park City volleyball team from a 3-1 loss in preseason.
