Carbon Outlast Emery *Photo Gallery*

The Spartan Center saw Carbon and Emery go at it on Thursday night in an exciting match. The first set of the contest set the tone as fans from both sides cheered on their respective teams. After both teams traded points, Carbon started to pull away. The Lady Dions were able to hold off Emery’s late surge and take the first set 25-21.

The Lady Spartans went down 2-0 early and then ripped off a 16-5 run to take a commanding lead in the second set. Emery would go on to tie the match at one with a 25-17 victory.

The third set was the closest of the night. Emery had an 11-8 advantage before the Lady Dinos went on a 5-1 run to retake the lead. The Lady Spartans were down 21-17 before they battled back to pull within one, 22-21. Carbon separated itself late, however, and won 25-23.

Carbon held a two-point lead during the majority of the forth set and won 25-21 to take the rivalry match 3-1. Emery (5-7, 0-3 Region 12) will head to Richfield (12-2, 1-1 Region 12) on Tuesday. Carbon (8-3, 1-1 Region 12) is off Tuesday but will then host the Lady Wildcats at home on Thursday.
