The Christmas feeling was in the air at the Carbon High School Choir Department annual Christmas concert Monday evening. The auditorium was filled to the brim as students serenaded the audience with carols.

The mixed choir began the night with the classic “Jingle Bell Rock.”  Following them was men’s choir, performing Elvis Presley’s famous “Blue Christmas.”

“Once Upon A December” from the movie “Anastasia” was a highlight from the Musettes, who also sang a German piece titled “Kling, Glockchen, Kling!” by Robert Sieving. The concert choir had a different take on “Silent Night” and “We Need a Little Christmas,” harmonizing perfectly in each piece.

Vocal jazz dedicated “The Christmas Song” to military members and all those who are not able to come home for Christmas, making the night feel even more special. Vocal jazz and concert choir joined together to sing “Brightest and Bestest” by Shawn Kirchner, filling the auditorium with melodious voices.

Carbon High School choir alumni joined all of the choirs at the end to sing “One Bright Star,” a tradition started by previous choir teacher Tony Pinedo.

Director Arthella Williams recruited many accompanists for the performance. Addy Taylor, Jewelianna Nielsen, Britlie Sharp, Hannah Torgerson and Jessa Holyoak all played piano for various choirs. Additional accompaniments that included percussion, violin and string bass were Jana Hoyt, Andrew Lasslo, Summer Atherly, Derek Hunsaker, Rebecca Martin and Jason Manchester.
