The week of Sept. 16-20 will be Carbon High’s annual homecoming week. Per tradition, the school hosted an assembly for students to decide which of their peers would become homecoming royalty and participate in the homecoming parade this upcoming Friday, Sept. 20 as well as various other activities throughout the week.

There were eight young ladies competing for the homecoming queen title. Each contestant was escorted across the stage and asked a question. The girls had to present a talent for the next item of the competition. There were videos made to entertain the audience, musical performances and a number of dancing acts. The ladies made their way back out to the stage and everyone was given until the end of the school day to vote for the winners.

The results came in at the end of the school day, just before classes were excused. The second attendant title was given to Victoria Nelson while Katelynn Vasquez will serve at the first attendant. Finally, Gracie Salas was crowned the Carbon High Homecoming Queen 2019.

Throughout the assembly, the dress-up days and homecoming activities were announced for the week. Monday is Spy Day with a bonfire at 8 p.m. that evening. Tuesday is Team Jersey Day with the annual powderpuff game that afternoon. On Wednesday, students are invited to dress like a stoplight; dressing up in red, yellow or green to describe their relationship status. Red means they’re taken, yellow stands for complicated and green shows they are single. That night, there will be a video game tournament at 6:30 p.m.

Decade Day will be on Thursday with the community carnival at the high school at 5:30 p.m.. Everyone in the community is invited to bring their families. Friday is Blue and White Day with a homecoming paradeon Price City’s Main Street at 1 p.m. and the football game that evening at 7 p.m. The festivities don’t stop there with the chalk dance at the school to wrap up the festivities.
