Members of Carbon High’s Future Business Leaders of America club carried out a service project on Monday, Jan. 19. The club collected new or gently used stuffed animals from members of the community and distributed them to doctor’s office, the hospital, the sheriff’s office and the like.

The idea for the project was conceived by FBLA member Vanessa Manual. According to Manual, she had a friend in the hospital who was very sick and needed comfort. She wanted to find a way to bring comfort people who are sick or suffering through a hard time.

“Not everyone has someone there for them,” she said. “A stuffed animal could brighten up their day.”

After collecting stuffed animals for over three weeks, the club ended up with over 500 to donate. They washed the 500 stuffed animals then made their rounds in the community with members to deliver them. The club wrote a report about the project that they will submit at the FBLA state competition.
