Recently, students from Carbon High School traveled to participate in the State History Fair, also known as the 2018 Utah History Day. Blake Grundy and Hunter Heath presented and won with their senior group documentary entitled “Douglas MacArthur VS Harry Truman in the Korean War.”
The Salt March was presented by Easton Horsley and P.J. Howa for the senior group website category, which also nabbed this duo a win. These two groups are the state champions and qualify to compete at nationals. Tyson Swasey, Abigail Layton and Zoey Kourianos also presented a senior group documentary entitled “The Guatemalan Civil War: Conflict and Compromise Within the Government.” This trio was awarded with an honorable mention and are national alternates.
Isabeau Miller, Harley and Ridic Migliori, Julia Krieger, Alexis Chappell and the grouping of Aubrey Fausett, Emma Haddock and Jessica Hansen also received honorable mentions for their presentations on The Newsboy Strike of 1899, Coco Chanel, Martin Luther and more, placing each of them in the category of national alternates.
Ajay Thayn presented a junior individual documentary entitled “Rain on a Distant Roof: Conflict and Compromise on the Colorado River” and was awarded with the Glen and Caroline Miner Awards for Utah History.
