Press Release
The Carbon High School Theatre Department is proud to present the musical classic “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” on the Carbon High stage. The show will run Nov. 19, 20, 21 and 22 as well as a Monday night showing on Nov. 24.
This delightful musical is the story of seven backwoods brothers in 1850 Oregon Territory and their antics as they woo and pursue the women of the town to become their brides. Based on the award winning 1954 movie of the same name, the stage musical was first produced for Broadway in 1982 to marginal success but has become a mainstay of high school and regional theaters.
The show has many great dance production numbers coupled with some wonderful songs written by Johnny Mercer, Al Kasha and Joel Hirschhorn. Popular songs include “Goin’ Courtin,’” “Sobbin’ Women,” “Bless Your Beautiful Hide” and “Lonesome Polecat.”
The musical showcases a talented cast made up entirely of high school students and features senior Adam Bone as Adam Pontipee and freshman Addy Taylor as Milly Bradon.
Carbon High tech students will run the lighting and sound aspects of the production as well as direct the on-stage running crew. With stage direction by Steve Pay, music direction by Arthella Williams and Kaitlyn Tracy, choreography by Nicole Bennett and Jaci Mohr and student direction by Alanna Stewart, this show is sure to please any musical appetite.
Opening night is Wednesday, Nov. 19 and the show runs five nights through Nov. 24. The musical begins at 7 p.m. each night. Ticket prices are $5 for adults, $3 for Carbon High students and children under 12. A family of six can purchase tickets for $20. Come enjoy an evening of fun music and dancing at Carbon High School.
