Carbon High School hosted the Region 14 Track and Field Championships last week, with Delta, Juab, Union, Maeser Prep and ALA participating.
The Dinos came away with a second place showing in the girls’ division and a third place finish in the boys’. Juab took home top honors overall, finishing with 257 points over second place Delta (244). Carbon was third with 227 points.
Multiple Dinos captured region titles, including:
Jodi Noyes, first place in the shot put. James Bryner, first in the 3200 meters. Boys’ 4×100 (Derek Hillam, Carson Frame, Carter Fausett and Jaylon Dennis), first. Shannon Baker, first in the 400 meters. Boys’ 4×400 (Carter Fausett, Carson Frame, Jared Spendlove and Derek Hillam), first. Derek Hillam, first in long jump.
The following finished in second place, earning valuable points for the team:
Boys’ Sprint Medley Team (Jared Spendlove, Ammon Wilson, Jaylon Dennis and Michael Bera). Harley Migliori, shot put. Marianna Molinar, javelin. Makenna Blanc, 800 meters. Shannon Baker, 200 meters. Girls’ 4×400 team (Shannon Baker, Madelyn Christensen, Makenna Blanc and Paiten Thomas). Carson Frame, long jump. Jodi Noyes, discus.
The Dinos also had eight, third-place finishes and five athletes place in fourth.
Carbon will participate in the 2018 UHSAA State Track and Field Championships this weekend at BYU.
