In their final tune-up before the 3A playoffs get underway this weekend, the Carbon Dinos traveled to Grantsville Tuesday. The game ended, though, in a defeat for Carbon by a 16-7 final score.
With Grantsville leading 9-1 after the second inning, the Dinos chipped away the next two innings to cut the deficit to 10-7. But a big five-run inning in the fifth by Grantsville pushed the game out of reach.
Domonic Rondinelli was credited with the loss on mound. Caden Sherman, Cole Fossat, Dillon Lowe and Kellen Trujillo all tallied a double in the game.
As Region 12’s number two seed, the Dinos will travel again to Grantsville, this time to take on the third-seeded Canyon View Falcons in the first round of the 3A playoffs, which begin on Saturday. The winner will take on the winner of a Morgan/Grantsville matchup at 4 p.m.
