The Carbon Dinos rebounded from a loss at Richfield Wednesday night with a 61-42 dismantling of the Juab Wasps to even up their Region 12 record at 2-2.

In region play every win is important. The Dinos played like that for the first quarter as it jumped out to an 18-12 lead with a minute to go on a Jamin Jensen three pointer.

The Dinos enjoyed their first 10-point lead of the game, 24-14, early in the second on a Kyle Quinton bucket before Juab went on a 13-5 run to end the half to cut the Carbon lead to two, 29-27.

Things got even closer in the third when the Wasps tied the game at 30 on a three pointer at the 6:10 mark. Slowly, as the third progressed, the Carbon lead increased. Just as the Dinos enjoyed a six-point lead at the four-minute mark, Juab again cut the lead back to two just two minutes later. Gage Daugherty nailed a three pointer with just under two to play that ultimately gave the Dinos a 43-38 lead after three quarters.

An 11-0 run by the Dinos to open the fourth quarter sealed the game for Carbon. Nobody scored for the first minute and a half of the period until Anthony Maclean hit a three to extend the Carbon lead, 46-38. Juab didn’t score until the three-minute mark. The Dinos enjoyed its largest lead of 21, 61-40 with a little over one minute remaining in the game. The Wasps scored just four points in the period.

Quinton led three players in double figures with 14 points. Daugherty finished with 11 points, including three treys. It was his second-straight game with three threes and the fifth time Daugherty has completed the task this season. Mitch Olson poured in 11 points as well. As a team, the Dinos nailed eight three pointers.

Carbon (10-8, 2-2 Region 12) will step outside of region action with a tilt against Union (9-7, 3-0 Region 10) on Wednesday. The game can be viewed live on ETV Channel 10 at 7 p.m.
