Members of the community gathered together on Saturday morning in Spring Canyon to run in a Halloween 5K hosted by Carbon Recreation and the Helper Flare Cheer Group. This year was the first time the Halloween 5K has been hosted. It was an idea brought together by the two groups and turned out to be a great success. There were 41 runners in attendance and the hope is that the 5K can be expanded next year with even more activities for people to engage in.
The person to finish first in the 5K was Amber Sparks, age 35, who finished the race in 23:03. Coming in second was Brett Davis, 23, who finished in 25:03. The youngest person to finish the race first was Dalyn Oliver, 12. Oliver finished the race in 27:51.
