Winners of four of their last five games, the Carbon Dinos went into a doubleheader matchup with Payson Thursday with payback on their minds.
Two days after a disappointing 4-2 loss April 15 at home, in which the Lions didn’t score until the fourth inning, the Dinos eeked out two one-run wins on Thursday, 3-2 and 7-6.
“It was a complete team effort,” said head coach Brett Bennett, who declined to say who may have stood out in the game and for what. “Everyone chipped in as a team.”
Cole Fossat went the distance in the game for Carbon and earned his second win of the season.
The team effort was again showcased in game two as Bennett used five pitchers en route to another one-run win. Domonic Rondinelli picked up the win for the Dinos. Rondinelli pitched just 2/3 of an inning, according to Bennett.
Carbon (6-9, 3-2 Region 12) will look to make it three in a row Tuesday as it hosts North Sanpete (1-12, 0-8 Region 12.) The two teams will then play in Mt. Pleasant Thursday in a doubleheader.
