Utah School Boards Association representative Jimmy Chapman gave a presentation on the effectiveness of the Active Shooter Program at the Carbon School Board meeting on Thursday.
Chapman explained the program was designed to help prepare Utah schools to deal with shooting emergencies. It was aimed at finding flaws in current plans and training schools to deal with real-life situations.
School Board members were interested in participating in the program, and Chapman promised to get the ball rolling.
The Board also reviewed new plans for Mont Harmon Junior High’s parking lot and bus lanes.
The plan for the bus lanes was immediately approved. Parking lot plans for Mont Harmon and Wellington Elementary were tabled to give engineers more time to finalize a plan and optimize bidding.
