Carbon School District Press Release
Carbon School District hosted its annual retirement and award dinner on Monday night. The school district honored those that are retiring (Cyndy Daniels, Leon Davis, Robin Hussey, John Thomas, Mary Ann Brown and Brent Myers).
The district also honored many employees for those that have set milestones at 20 years, 25 years, 30 years and 35 years of service.
Employees of the year included (one from each school) Nickole McCarty, Traci Iriart, NaCole Gehrig, Carrie Timothy, Lisa Torres, Frank Vigil, Mandi Bryner, Tami Rowley, Bert Barney and Wendy Grant. Grant was also named the school district’s employee of the year.
Teachers of the year included Robin Trujillo, Troy Moynier, Moira Madrid, Cindy Smith, Alisha Hansen, Belinda Oliver, Wes Thompson, Rebecca Van de Sluis, Brenna Penry and Kristina Anderson. Anderson was selected as the district’s teacher of the year.
The audience was entertained by the Wellington Elementary Majors & Minors musical group, which sang songs and did skits related to such things as eating for health and limiting screen time, even for parents.

- Kristina Anderson of Sally Mauro Elementary was awarded the district’s Teacher of the Year award by Carbon School District Board of Education President Wayne Woodward as Principal Jarad Hardy looks on. She will now compete in state competition for the Teacher of the Year for Utah.
