A total of 201 Carbon Dinos received their diplomas Friday afternoon during the 2018 commencement ceremonies at USU Eastern’s BDAC.
The keynote speaker for the event was 1990 Carbon graduate Judge Paige Peterson, a recent Utah Supreme Court selection.
Before Judge Peterson took to the lectern, Carbon Senior Class President Mason Rogers welcomed the Class of 2018 as well as family and friends in the audience. Valedictorian Luke Hansen then spoke on the theme, which was “Our lives are before us, our pasts are behind us, but our memories are forever within us.”
Other speeches by Rogers (retrospective), Salutatorian Shannon Baker (tribute to parents) and Salutatorian Makara Morgan (tribute to teachers) were given as well.
In total, the Class of 2018 received over $900,000 worth of scholarships to colleges and universities across the county.
