Carbon remembered the 88-35 thrashing Maple Mountain gave it a year ago. The game between the two Tuesday night looked like a repeat until Cole Fossat and Peyton Fausett took over in the third quarter to make it a game down the stretch.

The Dinos battled back from a 34-16 hole to get themselves to within one at 49-48 late in the fourth quarter. Fossat scored 11 total points in the third quarter to help the Dinos get back to within striking distance. The junior ended the game with a team high of 19, including five three-pointers. Fausett finished with 16.

Maple Mountain led Carbon 15-4 after one quarter of play. The game ended with a 60-53 final score.

The Dinos will have over a week off to prepare for North Summit in their opening game of the Pepsi Classic hosted in Ogden at Ben Lomond High School Dec. 4-6. Carbon will then play South Summit Dec. 5 and Ogden and St. Joseph on Dec. 6 to wrap up the classic.

Carbon’s next home game will come Dec. 17 against Union. The game can be seen live on ETV Channel 10 at 7 p.m.
