Carbon Sweeps Doubleheader

The Dino bats were strong on Tuesday as the team traveled to Richfield to take on the ‘Cats. Carbon got things going in the first game as Michael Vigil drew a walk, scoring a run in the first inning.

The Dinos blew things wide open in the sixth inning, scoring five runs. This included a homerun by Colton Lowe. Peyton Molinar recorded a double in the inning while Maizen Prichard singled. Chet Anderson added to the score with a walk.

The big inning was all Carbon needed to secure the 13-2 win. The Dinos had 10 hits in the game while Wyatt Falk got the win on the mound. He allowed four hits and two runs over six innings, striking out 12.

Richfield stepped up in the second game. The Dinos put two on the board early, but Richfield answered back with one of its own in the bottom of the first. The ‘Cats then took the lead, 4-2, with three runs in the first.

The Dinos responded with two runs in the fourth, but the momentum really swung in their direction with another big sixth inning. Carbon once again added five runs in the inning to seal the 9-5 victory.

Falk homered in the first inning while Ridge Nelson went yard in the sixth. The duo also added two RBIs apiece to their stat sheet. Stockton Kennedy got the win on the bump. The pitcher threw four innings, surrendering one run on one hit and striking out 10.

Carbon (15-2, 10-1 Region 12) and Richfield (10-11, 4-7 Region 12) will meet again on Friday, this time in Price. The game is slated for 3:30 p.m.
