Tennis players from Carbon were in Payson Tuesday for a Region 12 matchup with the Lions. Though the team eventually lost 1-4, good things happened during the matches.

The number two doubles team of Jaymin Cowley and Zane Whitmer won 7-6, 7-5. Andrew Richens and Robbi Etzel, the number one doubles team, lost 4-6, 6-4, 4-6.

“I saw some good things from Chase Fulcher at number one singles,” said head coach Pete Riggs. “He won a game against the top singles player in our region.”

Riggs also mentioned Nathaniel Reed, who competed at number three singles. Reed won a game in his first varsity action.

Carbon will host North Sanpete Thursday and will travel to Richfield on Tuesday.
