Dixie proved to be the stronger team as they defeated Carbon 25-17, 25-18 and 25-8 to end the Dinos season Friday afternoon. It was the Dinos’ second match of the day after a tough loss to Stansbury in round one.
The Lady Dinos lost to third seed Stansbury in five sets: 17-25, 25-20, 18-25, 25-14 and 15-13 in the first round of the State 3A HIgh School Volleyball Tournament Friday morning.
It was a tight contest all the way. Carbon lost the first and third sets but bounced back with wins in set two and four to force the final contest.
Coach Danielle Jensen said, “The girls played hard and it was a good experience to get the girls to the tournament.”
She went on to say she is really excited for next season and the girls who are returning, “Katie Martinez has been our biggest leader all year. She will really be an asset next season.
“For her first year as a varsity setter, Lauren Rice has really improved. I can’t wait to see how she will do with one more year under her belt. Both Jordan Scoggins and Beth Child have improved steadily all season and have come a long ways.”
