The Lady Dinos took to their home court on Tuesday night against Park City. Carbon once again got another great performance from outside hitters Jordan Scoggins and Beth Child, but their nine kills and 10 digs apiece weren’t enough to propel the Lady Dinos to a victory as they fell 3-1 (25-19, 18-25, 16-25, 22-25).
Carbon came out strong and took a quick 14-4 lead in the first set as Child led the Dinos squad with an impressive .444 hitting efficiency. Taylor Oliver, Scoggins and Lauren Rice all contributed one kill to the set.
Park City fought back in the next three sets and capitalized on Carbon errors, taking control of the match.
In the fourth and final set of the match, Carbon fought hard after trailing 4-14. With a serving run from junior Scoggins, the Lady Dinos were back in the set, and battled to the final point losing the set 22-25.
Katee Martinez led the Dinos with a match-best of 19 digs followed by Oliver with nine. Senior setter Rice tallied 21 assists on the night.
Next up for the Dinos are two tough road matches as they travel to Uintah High School on Thursday and Manti on Tuesday. Carbon will not return to their home court until Sept. 30 with a region match against Juab.
