The Carbon volleyball team came out strong on Thursday night, heading into their toughest region match of the year as they hosted undefeated North Sanpete. The Dino’s fought in a five set thriller, sending North Sanpete home with their first region loss of the season. The Dinos won the match 31-29, 25-16, 20-25, 25-16 and 15-13.
Third year head coach Danielle Jensen termed it as the “team’s best match of the year.”
“Everything finally clicked,” Jensen explained. “They played together as a team and I am so proud and happy for them.”
Senior Setter Lauren Rice’s 40 assists, one ace and one kill paced a well-balanced Dino offense along with at least five kills from four different players. Beth Child led the Carbon offense with a breakout 16 kills, followed by teammates Jordan Scoggins with 13 and Celeste Smith contributing nine.
The Carbon Dinos will stay on their home court as they seek revenge on the Payson Lions in a region matchup on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
