The Castle Country Classic showcased the talent and hard work of nearly 150 local youth and 200 animals consisting of lambs, goats, hogs and beef. The classic is a jackpot livestock show, where the youth of Carbon and Emery counties take the livestock back home for future competitions, rather than auction them off. This was the fourth year for the locals-only event, which drew in a growing number of participants and spectators.

The judge for the event was Jacob Klaudt of Beulah, North Dakota. Maegan Crosland graciously stated “We are so proud of the quality of youth and livestock raised right here in Carbon and Emery County. The Castle Country Classic greatly appreciates our sponsors who make this event possible for these hard-working youth.”

This was the last show held before an unfortunate fire engulfed the historic show barn and the community is looking forward to helping Ferron City as they recover and rebuild the barn. The best way to help is to show up for the kids as they compete and participate in the auction during the next event. The Southeastern Utah Junior Livestock Show (SEUJLS) is next up and will be held on July 10 – 13 at the Blue Sage Arena in Castle Dale. The Market Animals auction will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
