Castle Dale City Council discussed more uniform and stiffer penalties for the enforcement of the zoning codes during a meeting last week. This would require the enforcement officer to use the following procedure for any infraction of the zoning codes in the city.

  1. Give verbal warning of the violation, if not resolved within 30 days,
  2. Give written warning in form of a certified letter, if not resolved in 15 days,
  3. Give $100 fine, if not resolved within 15 days,
  4. Give $200 fine, if not resolved within 15 days,
  5. File Class C misdemeanor.

Also discussed was amending the cargo/shipping container use as an accessory building, which would include a zoning approval and building permit before installation in permitted zones. Both of these changes will require a public hearing, which will be scheduled and advertised for the next council meeting on Jan. 10, 2019.

Also at the meeting, the Emery High rodeo team, advisors and student officers presented the city a check in the amount of $1,500. They also requested fee waivers for the use of the Blue Sage Arena. This waiver would be for practice nights, the annual high school rodeo in September and their fundraiser rodeo in July. The waivers were granted and the city thanked the rodeo team for their contribution.
