To celebrate Utah’s Days of ’47, Castle Dale hosted the Cowboys Memorial Rodeo on Friday and Saturday evening. The rodeo featured bareback riding, tie down roping, breakaway roping, saddle bronc riding, team roping, barrel racing and bull riding. Members of the community gathered to support the cowboys and cowgirls from local communities as well as those from other states.
On Friday evening, a watermelon race was hosted for children ages one through six and a cash calf chase provided entertainment for children ages seven through 12. On Saturday, the Dust Riders Club performed. With an average age of nine-years-old, the club is an opportunity for children of all ages to learn horse riding. To end the rodeo on Saturday, the audience enjoyed a fireworks display.
