The student body at Castle Dale Elementary school recently put their smarts to the test to see who could come out triumphant in a chess competition.

While each student played well, a number of students were eventually left standing. The top finishers in third grade were Ben Johansen, Devon Farley and James White with first, second and third, respectively. For fourth grade, Damon Farley took first place with Asia Anderson and Parker Esplin nabbing second and third place.

Fifth grade saw Scott Johansen winning first place while West Johansen earned second place and Jace Frandsen rounded out the grade in third place. Overall, the school winners were Scott Johansen in first, Frandsen in second and West Johansen in third.
