Castle Heights Knights received a special Halloween treat on Friday afternoon. Students who read for the month of September were able to turn principal Chris Winfree into a human mummy, wrapping him in toilet paper multiple times for their reward. When the students were done decorating Mr. Winfree, the mummy was released and escaped mummification.
“I like to see the joy on the kids faces when they get a reward for their hard work,” said Rachel Staley, PTA President.
This activity was part of the school’s Read Before Bed Program. Castle Heights currently has 16 classes who are reading at 100%.
“We really do have a fantastic principal here,” expressed Staley. “Without him, none of this would be possible.”
Students who read for the month of October will receive the opportunity to turn Mr. Winfree into a human Thanksgiving feast. These activities are planned and coordinated by Staley.
