Teacher Steve Lasslo from Castle Heights Elementary School recently applied for a 100% for Kids grant. According to its website, 100percentforkids.org, Utah’s Credit Unions formed 100% For Kids-Utah in 2002 to form the Credit Union Education Foundation. There has been a total dollar value of $5,625,854.02 in grants awarded by 100% for Kids to Utah classrooms since it was founded.

To the school’s delight, Lasslo was successful in receiving a grant from the foundation. With the grant, he worked with the local music store Lee’s Music and was successful in getting a piano for the music class. The music teacher, Amy Nelson, along with Lasslo who teaches a class once a week, was having to use the upright standing piano in their gym when they needed a piano, and it was highly inconvenient.

Lee’s Music was able to provide them with a Casio Compact Digital Piano and a 3-Pedal set. The piano has many features and can produce different musical sounds. Lasslo and Nelson will be sure to put the piano to great use for the kids.
