Castleview Hospital Press Release
This October, Castleview Hospital will launch a new hospitalist program to enhance the care and service it provides the community. Hospitalists are fully-certified, trained physicians who work full-time at the hospital providing comprehensive and immediate evaluation, care and treatment to hospitalized patients.
Leading the program will be Dr. Paul Thayn and Dr. David Thayn, two brothers from the local community who will join Castleview’s medical staff as full-time hospitalists. As hospitalists, Dr. Thayn and Dr. Thayn will not replace patients’ primary care physicians; rather, they will work in close communication and partnership with primary care physicians to ensure their patients receive timely and effective treatment.
“Hospitalists have a tremendous impact on the quality of care hospitals are able to provide patients,” said Mark Holyoak, chief executive officer of Castleview Hospital. “They have a deep understanding of the special needs of hospitalized patients, and they are specifically trained to help address those needs. We are excited to add this service to the hospital and know that it will benefit patients and the community for years to come.”
Dr. Paul Thayn comes to the hospital from Desert Rock Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Clinic, which is affiliated with Castleview. He earned an Advanced Technical Degree in Hyperbaric Medicine, a BS in Biology and a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Sint Eustatius. Dr. Paul Thayn completed an internal medicine and pediatric medicine residency at East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine and Pitt County Memorial Hospital. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Physicians.
Dr. David Thayn joins Castleview Hospital from Unitah Basin Medical Center in Roosevelt, Utah. He earned an Associate of Arts from the College of Eastern Utah, a Bachelor of Medical Sciences and a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Sint Eustatius. Dr. David Thayn also completed an internal medicine and pediatric medicine residency at East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine and Pitt County Memorial Hospital. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians and the American Society for Internal Medicine. Dr. David Thayn is also Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
Current patients of Dr. Paul Thayn with questions about his new limited hours can call the Desert Rock clinic at (435) 637-7800 and a staff member can assist.
