Castleview Hospital was recently named to the Top 20 Rural Community Hospitals out of more than 2,000 hospitals nationwide. To celebrate, free community barbecues were hosted at Castleview Hospital and Emery Medical Center earlier this week.

The chosen hospitals achieved success in the overall performance on a composite of eight pillars of strength, according to the National Rural Health Association (NRHA):

  • Inpatient Market Share
  • Quality
  • Charges
  • Cost
  • Outpatients Market Share
  • Patient Perspectives
  • Outcomes
  • Financial Stability

The top 20 list included only one other hospital in Utah: Cedar City Hospital.

The NRHA is a non-profit organization working to improve the health and wellbeing of rural America and providing leadership on rural health issues through advocacy, communications, education and research. NRHA membership is made up of 21,000 diverse individuals and organizations, all of whom share the common bond of interest in rural health.

“Castleview Hospital is proud of the efforts of its physicians and staff who have contributed to our hospital achieving this designation,” said Mark Holyoak, Castleview Hospital CEO. “Our results as a top health care provider means our community can count on us to deliver the services they need now and in the future.”

An awards ceremony will be held during NRHA’s Rural Hospital Innovation Summit conference May 11 in San Diego, Calif.
