The experienced team at Castleview Surgery Associates in Price is committed to offering the latest technology options to provide superior results for their patients. One of the most recent additions to the facility’s state of the art technology is the Spectrum Multi-Platform Laser/IPL system. With this technology, they are able to perform a variety of laser treatments in office.
Laser treatments that will be performed in office include laser hair removal for both men and women, skin resurfacing, reduction of fine lines and wrinkles on the face, neck, cheeks and hands, as well as sun spot treatment, vein treatment and tattoo removal.
“We are thrilled to now be offering laser treatments in office,” said Jon Pressett, M.D., FACS. “Laser treatment will be beneficial to our patients and our community. The beauty of this technology is that our patients are able to go right back to work or normal activities; there is virtually no downtime after a treatment.”
The Spectrum Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) utilizes a broad spectrum light-source with a general spectral range of 400 to 1200 nm. Various cutoff filters are placed in front of the light-source to filter the undesired frequencies and allow the desired wavelength to target specific structures and chromophores in the skin. IPL works by selecting wavelengths of light to specifically penetrate the skin, then the hemoglobin, or melanin absorbs the light with minimal epidermal/dermal absorption. The light is then converted to heat, destroying the vessel or lesion and damaged tissue is removed by the body.
Laser hair removal is one of the most commonly done cosmetic procedures in the U.S. It beams highly concentrated light into hair follicles. Pigment in the follicles absorbs the light, which destroys the hair. Laser hair removal can be done in office and provides permanent hair reduction. Benefits of laser hair removal include precision; while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged, speed; each pulse of the laser takes a fraction of a second and can treat many hairs at the same time, and predictability; most patients have permanent hair loss after an average of three to seven sessions.
