Price City Councilwoman and cycling enthusiast Terry Willis recently contacted the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) with some concerns regarding the biking trails in the area.

One of the most recently constructed trails, located on Wood Hill, was opened nearly three years ago in May. Since then, the trail and others like it have been well utilized not only by cyclists throughout the area, but by travelers as well. However, it has come to the attention of Councilwoman Willis and the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office that OHV riders are abusing the trails and causing damage, making them difficult to traverse for cyclists.

These trails were created for the purpose of mountain bike cyclists to have a place in nature to explore safely; they are not intended for OHVs of any kind.

Sheriff Jeff Wood of the CCSO said that they are in the process of installing monitoring systems to ensure that those that are abusing the use of the trails are discovered and the trails may be restored to their proper state.
