Press Release

The John Wesley Powell River History Museum in Green River will hold its first ever Chalk the Museum event during Melon Days on September 16-17. Participants will transform the concrete museum building into a gallery of vibrant chalk murals. The museum’s River Runner’s Hall of Fame inspired this year’s theme of “exploration.”

River Runners like John Wesley Powell, Georgie White Clark and Don Harris not only explored rivers; they also explored new technologies and techniques on the river. The murals will embody exploration as interpreted by each artist.

Chalk the Museum is free and welcomes all ages and abilities to take part. Each participant or group will receive a box of chalk and a box of soft pastels for their creation. To pre-register, visit johnwesleypowell.com.
