The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce, with help from members of the community and local royalty, welcomed Outkastics to the business community on Tuesday afternoon with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The newest business to grace Price City’s Main Street got its start from Mark Sr. Quintana and is entirely family owned and operated. The business’ name, Outkastics, was created by Quintana, meaning “positively unique or different in an artistic fashion.”

“I simply combined the word OutKast with artistic,” he explained. “The store idea was to use unique ideas to fit the interest of many genres and cultures.”

That uniqueness blends throughout the business, which provides services of retail, consignment, arts, antiques, collectibles, sports memorabilia, custom t-shirts, and convenience store essentials, such as tobacco, drinks and snack products. But it doesn’t stop there.

“We will provide souvenirs for tourists and custom t-shirts that help promote the learning and understanding of the Carbon County coal mining industry, prehistoric days and Native American history,” Quintana said. “Also, fabulous designed shirts for our locals to represent their pride for being from Carbon County.”

The store also has a dedicated art space, which features a variety of unique pieces.

“Feeling the gratification of self reward for the artistic work I have done for family, friends and people in the community through graphite portraits, tattoo design, logos, residential drywall and painting trades, I decided it was time to provide a service and make a living to support my family through the talents I was blessed to have,” Quintana said. “I’ve grown to have a great appreciation and respect for family, friends and business relations.”

Tentatively, Outkastics is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. as well as Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. The business will be closed on Sunday for family time and on Mondays for business operations. These times are subject to change and customers can stay up to date on the business’ Facebook page for hours of operation, sales and events. Customers can find the business and meet the family running the operations at 585 East Main Street in Price.

“I thank the community for their support, and special thanks to my fiance Candace for her hard work in co-working with me on this project for past two years,” Quintana said. “Our mission is to provide positive influences, build relationships, support our family and earn a respected reputation for loved ones to be proud of.”
