The Lady Spartans hosted their annual Senior Night on Thursday when North Sanpete came to town. Before the first pitch, Emery honored its five seniors, Tylee Norton, Maddy Childs, Brynlei Luke, Taija Olsen and Cambrie Jensen.

Then it was onto the game. Childs got the nod and pitched around a couple of singles in the first. She was excellent in the circle and kept the Lady Hawks off balanced all evening. The offense did its part in the bottom of the third when Brooklynn Ekker turned on a pitch and sent it off the right-center fence. The one-out triple put the Spartans in business and Aspen Taylor quickly dropped a perfect bunt to execute the safety squeeze. That is all the damage the Spartans would do, but it was also all that Childs would need. She would go on to pitch a complete game shutout in the 1-0 victory. Childs gave up only five hits and one walk to go along with six strikeouts. Offensively Emery only recorded four hits, none bigger than the triple and bunt-RBI single. The other two hits came off the bat of Childs in her 2-3 effort at the plate.

Up next, the Spartans (15-6, 5-2) will wrap up the season on Friday in Moab against Grand (8-12, 3-3).
