Carbon hosted Richfield for the first round of the playoffs on Thursday afternoon and struggled early.
It was all Richfield in the first half with a score of 38-0, including 28 points in the first quarter alone. The Dinos played better in the second half and outscored Richfield 15-7, but could not overcome the first half deficit.
Jaylon Dennis recovered a fumble around midfield in the third and returned it inside the 10-yard-line. On fourth and goal, Dennis scored the Dinos’ first points of the game on a well-executed zone-read play. Dennis scored again for the Dinos in the fourth but Richfield ultimately left with the victory, 45-15.
Josh Huntsman, Carbon’s head coach, expressed that he was encouraged by his team’s effort this year and looks forward to building on their performance next year.
