It was a final bow for some at the Carbon High School choir department’s annual pops concert on Monday night. Seniors bid farewell after singing with their choirs, some even singing solos to highlight the concert. At the end of the concert, seniors in audition choirs were recognized and received their graduation chords.
The night began with mixed choir, singing the commonly known pieces “Lean on Me” and “Counting Stars.” Men’s choir followed immediately after with Michael Jackson’s classic “The Way You make Me Feel” and finished up their selection with “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother.”
Brother and sister duet Trinalee and Keenan Hatch received a standing ovation for their performance of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal.” Senior David Hobbs followed ensuit with “Ole’ Man River.”
The Musettes were up next, singing Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and finishing with a mashup of “Girl’s Just Wanna Have Fun” and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.” Carson Frame swooned the audience with his rendition of Bobby Darin’s “Beyond the Sea.” Jamie Edwards combined her voice with the piano to deliver a heart touching performance of “In the Arms of An Angel.”
Concert choir kept the music alive through their performance of “Something Just Like This” and Shakira’s “Waka Waka.” Songs from widely known movies were next, with Adriana Taylor performing “Never Enough” from “The Greatest Showman.” Saul Beecher brought “Evermore” from the live action “Beauty and the Beast.”
Vocal jazz was the last choir up and performed “Trashin’ the Camp” from “Tarzan” and Charlie Puth’s hit “One Call Away.” The concert was capped off with all audition choirs combining to sing “You Will Be Found.”
