Donkey basketball is a tradition at Carbon High School that is hosted by the Future Farmers of America (FFA) each year.

The special game has taken place for nearly ten years and Mia McCourt of FFA states that she believes it becomes an even better success as the years progress. All of the funds raised during the event benefit the club and used to pay for club registration, assist those who struggle financially for competitions and fund the almost-yearly scholarship award of $1,000.

The Chapter Officer Team, alongside the Greenhand Officers, ran the basketball game while advisor Jacie Pressett ensured that the entire evening ran smoothly for the participants and watching crowd.

This year’s teams were compromised of the Price City Council and USU Eastern as well as the annual Carbon versus Emery game. More sponsors signed up to assist donkey basketball this year than have in many years. Those sponsors included Market Express, AutoFarm, Farm Bureau Richard Hackwell, IFA, Tram Electric and Marshal Hendricks, a past FFA member.

“It was a great turnout and a great experience for our community as well as our members who helped out,” McCourt concluded.
