USU Eastern will once again play host to the Clothesline Project this November. The university’s student center will be lined not with paintings or sketches, but rather t-shirts raising awareness.
“The Clothesline Project is a visual display that bears witness to the violence against women. During the public display, a clothesline is hung with shirts,” local project leaders shared. “Each shirt is decorated to represent a particular woman’s experience, by the survivor herself or by someone who cares about her.”
The purpose of The Clothesline Project is to aid in the healing process, raise awareness, provide a safe space and provide information.
This year’s project will be on display Nov. 27-29 during student center hours. Students and university staff as well as members of the community can view the display during this time. For more information about the event, please contact Ashley Yaugher, Ph.D. at (435) 613-5670.
