Traditionally, the nonprofit organization Community Cares hosts a holiday dinner each year in the USU Eastern Jennifer Leavitt Student Center to ensure that nobody in the community goes hungry on Christmas.
However, it was recently announced that the 2020 dinner has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pam Cha of Community Cares said that though the organization submitted proposed changes to the university, it was stated that in the current situation, it was not able to be hosted safely.
Though this year’s event is unable to take place, Cha stated that she is hopeful that the dinner will once again be hosted the holiday season of 2021.
