Press Release

There are homeless, elderly, lonely and needy people in our county that need your help. Community Cares is a non-profit group that was formed to provide free Christmas dinners to those in need on Christmas. Our goal is to make sure that no one in Carbon County spend Christmas Day alone or hungry.

We hope to reach as many people as possible this year. The event takes place on Christmas Day, December 25, at the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center at USU Eastern beginning at 2 p.m. and ending at 4 p.m. This includes a complete holiday dinner, Christmas music, entertainment and a book for the children. No reservations are required and this dinner is open to everyone in the community.

Transportation is provided at sites in Helper, East Carbon and Price. Additionally, Community Cares delivers dinners to the home-bound. If you would like dinner delivered or are in need of transportation, please contact Stephanie Cha at (435) 820-6631.

Last year’s dinner served approximately 200 locals. For more information, you may also call Brenda Deeter at (435) 820-8140. Inquiries may be mailed to Community Cares Christmas Dinner, P.O. Box 255 Price, Utah 84501. Be sure to also check out our Community Cares Facebook page.

Donations are also being accepted to help cover the expenses. Please mail your check payable to the address mentioned above or deliver it to Vikki Ori at Washington Federal Credit Union.
