The local non-profit organization Community Cares found itself quite busy once again on Christmas Day. Each holiday season, the organization hosts a free Christmas dinner that is aimed to ensure that nobody in the community is alone or hungry on the holiday.

The dinner is always created with the community in mind. Shuttle services were provided once again as well as home deliveries for those that did not wish or were unable to leave their homes. Last year, through the combined dinners served at the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center along with the home deliveries, the organization provided 250 individuals with meals. This year, they were even more successful.

“We had record numbers this year,” stated Community Cares representative Pam Cha.

Nearly 300 people were provided with meals this year. Books were also presented  to the children while the parents and adults took home poinsettias. Activities such as a cookie decorating table, artistic coloring table and the like were there for the younger patrons to enjoy. The meal was a classic holiday dinner consisting of ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing and more.
