Back in 2012, Dirk and Gentry Jacobsen came together with TIffany Sorenson to begin celebrating World Down Syndrome Day in Castle Country. This day is also known commonly as 321 Day.
The first two years, the two families celebrated themselves with t-shirts and fun. In 2014, Jessica Humphrey-Linley and her family moved to Emery County and partnered with the two families with the decision to contact the children in Carbon and Emery counties that would also like to celebrate.
The families spoke with the Emery County Recreation Center, who gratefully gave them permission to utilize the space for the celebration. Since then, around 21 children and their families attend this celebration which includes dinner, a talent show, a spotlight table and more.
