Members of the community gathered at Sherald’s Frosty Freeze for a fundraiser on Wednesday evening in support of Judy Jones.

Jones, 51, died in a motorcycle accident on May 21. Friends, family and strangers gathered at Sherald’s to remember Jones, donate to her family and enjoy treats. For five hours, all proceeds from ice cream and drink sales were gathered to donate to Jones’ family for funeral expenses.

“She was one of many that spent time at Sherald’s,” staff from Sherald’s shared on social media. “It’s amazing to see our little community come together. Thanks for the community support. We had an amazing turnout.”

Also aiding in the fundraising efforts was Coca Cola, who donated cups and syrup for the event. Carhops at Sherald’s also stepped up, donating the tips they received Wednesday evening. The fundraiser was so successful that it was extended two hours as people gathered to donate. Donations continued to pour in on Thursday as well.

By Thursday evening, a check had been written to the Jones family in the amount of $2,844.24. While the staff at Sherald’s knows that the money cannot take away any heartache, they hope it can alleviate some stress that comes with a funeral.

A viewing for Jones will be held Thursday, May 28 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary, 680 East 100 South. Funeral services will be Friday, May 29 at 11 a.m. at the Westwood LDS chapel at 175 N. Ranch Rd. (1280 W.), Price, with a viewing one hour prior to the services. Interment in the Price Cliffview Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Fausett Mortuary. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the memorial fund for Judy Jones at the Eastern Utah Community Credit Union, (435) 637-2443.
