Collette McElprang was severely injured when her horse tipped on top of her at the recent Heritage Days Rodeo. She was volunteering as a flag girl, making a victory lap with the winner of the bareback, when her saddle began to tip and the horse reared over, landing with the saddle horn in her chest, breaking her sternum and several ribs and causing internal bruising. She was flown to University of Utah and spent a week there recovering.
Family and friends helped to defray some of the expenses by hosting a spaghetti dinner, raffle, silent auction and live auction Thursday evening. Many valuable items were donated and a large crowd attended to support the McElprang family.
