Compete in the Upcoming Helper Idol Competition

With the Helper Arts Festival rapidly approaching, Helper Idol is coming up with it. Singers over the age of 14 can compete in the preliminary round on August 9 at the Carbon County Fairgrounds. Rules and regulations for the competition are listed below.

All contestants must be at least 14 years of age.

All contestants must complete entry form and submit NON-REFUNDABLE entry fee of $25.

The preliminary round will take place at the Carbon County Fairgrounds on Saturday, August 9, beginning at 6 p.m.  All contestants need to arrive on site no later than 5 p.m. to check in.

All contestants must present a professional image and reasonable vocal talent. Any entry that is uncooperative, under the influence of drugs or alcohol, uses profanity, in inappropriately dressed or displays any actions perceived unacceptable by the Helper American Idol or Carbon County Fair staff and its representatives will be disqualified immediately and removed from the premises. No refund will be provided.

Winners will be selected based on the following criteria:

SINGING ABILITY (vocal talent)                   55% on a scale of 30-55

PROFESSIONALISM                                  10% on a scale of 1-10

APPEARANCE                                           10% on a scale of 1-10

AUDIENCE REACTION                                 25% on a scale of 5-25

The highest overall score wins. Tie scores will be eliminated by a judges’ panel discussion. The judges’ decisions are final.

Please note: THE CONTESTANT MAY NOT BRING PROPS OR ANY PERSONAL MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS ON THE STAGE.

The finals will take place Friday, August 15 at the Helper Arts and Music Festival on the Main Stage at 6 p.m.  Finalists must arrive no later than 5:30 p.m. behind the Helper Main Street Park to check in.

Federal, state or local taxes due are the responsibility of the winners receiving prize money.

Each contestant will be required to sing up to two songs for the preliminary competition, and if selected, one song during the finals. It does not have to be a different song from the preliminary round. To see a list of songs, visit www.thisisyourband.com. Songs must be listed on This Is Your Band’s website at the time of signup.
