On Sunday evening, Dennis and Vincent Anella of Price were enjoying an ATV ride in Kenilworth. While riding along, they noticed a cat on top of a utility pole and snapped a picture of it. They shared the photo with their friend Sheldon Jensen.
The next day, concerned if the cat had got down safely or not, the Anellas returned to find the poor cat still there. Later on Monday, Jensen and his family took a ride to see if the cat was still there; it was. Monday evening, Jensen and the Anellas came up with a plan to try to rescue the cat on Tuesday morning. Dennis had called Helper City, the Humane Society and Carbon Animal Shelter, none of which could do anything.
Four people, Dennis Anella, Vincent Anella, Lydia Valencia, and the owner of the cat, Robert Salze, were all part of the rescue mission. The Anellas, Valencia and Salze each held a corner of a large tarp and waited for Jensen to climb a tall ladder, grab the cat and toss it onto the tarp. All went well and the cat went running home. Salze reported that the cat was likely up on the pole for a total of four days.
