The Carbon County Commissioners were busy at work despite the COVID-19 outbreak by hosting a session with viewing recommended virtually on Wednesday evening.

During this meeting, the commissioners considered the agenda item that regarded the approval of the COVID-19 related employee leave policy for Carbon County employees. This policy provides that, if adopted, any employee is unable to work due to COVID-19, effective April 2 through Dec. 31 of this year, they will be paid for up to 80 hours of sick leave.

There are stipulations in line with this policy and it is one that has been mandated from the state of Utah. These requirements include but are not limited to those that are being subjected to quarantine or isolation, caring for those who are quarantined, those that are caring for a child whose school has been closed due to precautions and more.

This policy is also in place for those at a private business that employs less than 500 people. The policy was approved by the commissioners.
