These points are associated with groups of people archaeologists call Late Paleoindians and the following Early Archaic time period, about 10,000 years ago. This is during a major environmental transition as the Pleistocene (Ice Age) ended and most of the megafauna (big animals) in the Americas went extinct. Many of these Late Paleoindian communities were bison hunters, using projectile points like this Plainview hafted to spears to take down this big animals in close encounters.
